From Land to Cup

Our Cacao’s Origin

Handcrafted stone-ground ceremonial cacao block made from single-origin Guatemalan cacao beans.
Fermented and dried raw cacao beans, the foundation of high-quality single-origin ceremonial cacao.

Our ceremonial cacao is grown and lovingly prepared by “Nuevo Amanecer”, a Guatemalan women-led cacao collective in Lake Atitlán, Guatemala.

Nuevo Amanecer, “new sunrise, new beginning”, started in 2013 as a women’s textile-weaving group before re-orienting towards the legacy and traditions of their mothers and grandmothers: cacao cultivation. Through this work, they honor ancestral traditions, preserve cacao for future generations, and foster economic resilience in their community.

Nuevo Amanecer’s heirloom Criollo cacao is grown across six farms in the Suchitepéquez Mountains on the Guatemalan Pacific front. The 13-woman collective cares for over 4,500 cacao trees and lead every stage of cultivation, harvest, and production.

Nuevo Amanecer views cacao as a sacred medicine, believing it carries the energy and intention with which it is prepared. This approach, rooted in deep love and reverence, guides every step of cultivation and preparation—from the land all the way to your cup.
